Dr. Ayomide Fakuade
I was born in Lagos, Nigeria, and raised in Toronto, Ontario from the age of three. I completed my undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences with a Minor in Psychology at York University, before earning my medical degree at Dalhousie University in Halifax, NS.
I’ve always been fascinated by the brain and mind – a curiosity sparked in high school by a philosophy teacher who lent me Descartes’ Error by Antonio Damasio, which later inspired my minor in psychology. My interest in neurology deepened after a family friend was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. I’m currently exploring different paths within neurology, with a growing interest in an academic subspecialty practice.
Outside of residency, I enjoy playing the piano and listening to music, experimenting in the kitchen, trying new restaurants, and working out. I’m especially excited by opportunities to explore the use of music in movement disorders.
